Cobra Rigid Vent 3 Exhaust Vent by GAF is installed over roof ridges to help remove excess heat and moisture from your attic. This is crucial in protecting your roof system from premature deterioration. One of the most important features of a home’s roof is to have balanced ventilation. Basically, you need to have the same amount of air entering the attic as there is exiting it. By installing this ridge vent under your ridge cap shingles, you allow moist warm air to exit out highest point of the roof. Each ridge vent piece is 11.5″ wide to support 12″ wide ridge cap shingles, and covers 4 linear feet. As the amount of exhaust ventilation must never exceed the intake at the soffits or eaves, GAF recommends a minimum of 1 sq. ft. of net free ventilation for every 300 sq. ft. of attic floor space.
